Aggie Alvez

Aggie Alvez is Director of Communications for the Montgomery County, Maryland public schools, the largest and most diverse school system in Maryland and the 16th largest district in the nation. Serving in this position since 1999, Ms. Alvez has been responsible developing an integrated Communications Department composed of print, online, and video media supporting 200 schools, 22,000 staff, 140,000 students and their parents, and almost a million stakeholders in the county. Alvez has led a series of successful initiatives to increase parent and community involvement in the school system through use of dynamic multimedia products. She was awarded a distinguished service award in 2007 and her video productions have won the Aurora, Aegis and Capital Regional Emmy awards. Alvez has authored several publications and has made more than 200 presentations at workshops on topics such as public relations, media relations, and communications issues.
