VOLUNTEER SCREENERS

SILVERDOCS, the “pre-eminent documentary festival in the US” (Screen International) seeks Volunteer Screeners to be an integral part of the programming team. Screeners review at least 40 feature and short documentaries submitted to SILVERDOCS 2008.

Potential Screeners should have a critical eye and knowledge of film, and be able to write articulate and concise evaluations of the films they review. Screeners must have a VCR and a DVD player, reliable Internet access, and a qualified point-of-view.

Regular access to multi-region DVD and VHS players is a plus.

Screeners are required to pick up films for review at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD during regular business hours.

In return for your services, you will receive an all-access Screeners Pass to the 2008 SILVERDOCS Festival, held June 16-23, 2008.

The Screeners Pass gives you access to SILVERDOCS screenings, Conference sessions, and parties and events. Screeners are also invited to watch movies for free at the AFI Silver Theatre year-round.

If you would like to apply to be a Volunteer Screener, e-mail Programming (at) SILVERDOCS.com with the following:
* Statement of Interest
* Professional Resume highlighting pertinent film-related experience
* Sample film evaluation/critique (250-500 words evaluating recent film you’ve seen)
* List of “Top Ten” favorite documentary films

The Screening Review Process takes place now until late March ’08.
